This week the FIS Alpine Ski WM in Schladming finally began. I was fortunate enough to have contributed some parts of the official mobile app developed by my friends from TAO Software. It was concepted from the beginning to be available for iOS, Android as well as a Web-App, delivering all relevant infos from the event – even 3D maps for the slopes were being integrated.
Most of the views were done with jQuery Mobile. It was my first encounter with this framework and was rather satisfied. The learning curve is rather low, however it is sometimes confusing since it generates loads of divs and classes for often simple structures. I’m really curious how the perforance of HTML5-based apps develops in the next couple of years.
You can get some more detailed infos on the features of the app in this blog post by Ulrich Andres.
